Armand Duka hits out at Chelsea for stalling the development of striker Armando Broja

Albania FA chief Armand Duka has hit at Chelsea for stalling the development of striker Armando Broja, as quoted on Daily Echo (h/t Football. London).

“It’s true [he is not playing regularly]. “It was better when he was at Southampton where he was starting almost always in the starting line-up. Now he plays 15, 20 minutes every game and it is not quite the same as playing 90.”

Broja spent the last season on loan at Southampton. It was a successful spell with the 21-year-old playing 38 times for the Saints in all competitions, scoring nine goals in the process.

This spell allowed the striker to showcase his talent and he emerged as one of the best youngsters in the league. This season the striker has found a place in the Blues senior team, although he is yet to be a starter.

Graham Potter has been using the player from the bench, with the Albanian international featuring in 18 games so far this season in all competitions. However, he has only started in three of them.

It is understandable why Duka would make such comments. But, the young striker is still improving every day and will need some time before he can become a regular in the starting eleven for the west London club.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is the main striker for the team, with Kai Havertz at times leading the line. Potter is known for his work with improving youngsters and there is no doubt that the manager will help Broja realise his full potential in time.

More Chelsea News:

Broja will be wise to keep up with his development at the club, rather than seeking to ply his trade elsewhere. A Cobham graduate, it won’t be long before he is a regular and has the fans singing his name at Stamford Bridge.
