Chelsea send Reece James and Wesley Fofana to Dubai to work on their recovery before the World Cup
According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea will send Reece James and Wesley Fofana to Dubai to continue their recovery and rehabilitation to try and feature in the World Cup.
After picking up a knee injury during the AC Milan game at the San Siro on October 11, scans revealed that James is set to be out of action for eight weeks, which would automatically end his hopes of playing in the World Cup starting in the third week of November.
However, the Englishman has not given up on making it to the flight in Qatar. He is still doing everything to be fit enough for the tournament. He has been undergoing rehabilitation in London but will fly to Dubai this week to continue this programme there.
Fofana, on the other hand, picked up his injury a week before James during the same fixture taking place at Stamford Bridge. He is also working hard to recover from his knee injury and feature for France in the World Cup. For that purpose, he will join James in Dubai for the rehabilitation programme.
From Chelsea’s viewpoint, the team has missed the duo in the games they have missed so far. Although Fofana’s direct replacement Trevoh Chalobah is doing a good job, manager Graham Potter could have done with more options in the central defensive department.
James is a major miss with regards to having that quality from the wing-back position and covering that area both offensively and defensively. He is one of the best chance-creators in the league while being a dependable defender against tricky wingers.
It is good to hear that the duo are doing their best to be fit for the World Cup. It would also mean they would be back in the Chelsea team as soon as their tournament is over.
