According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are leading the race but face competition from European giants Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid for the signature of Brazilian wonderkid Endrick.
The 16-year-old striker, who is currently playing for Brazilian club Palmeiras, has had enormous interest from clubs in Europe. He has had several meetings with the Blues regarding a potential transfer as well.
Although Real Madrid believe they are front-runners, PSG and Chelsea are right in the race. Any deal signed in 2023 will be with a view of the player arriving in 2024 when he turns 18.
Endrick’s father Douglas is involved in the decision-making that will decide the next destination of the teenager. Douglas is working alongside agents who are with Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, who was also signed by the European champions from Brazil at a very young age.
Endrick is one of the famous names in Brazilian football who is touted to become a world star in years to come. By scoring 165 goals in 169 appearances for various youth teams of Palmeiras, he came into prominence and became the club’s youngest-ever player to make a senior debut, at the age of 16 years, two months and 16 days.
The teenager has scored three goals and assisted one in five league appearances since making his debut. He is a centre-forward by trade but can operate on either side of the wing if required.
Chelsea spent a good chunk of transfer money on signing youngsters in the summer window. The Blues have one of the best academies in world football that produces and develops the best young talents to shine at the elite stage.
Getting Endrick may not only be a great addition to the youth setup but could add a lot to the senior team. The 16-year-old has shown that if given the right path in years to come, he is set to become a superstar of the game.
