According to Football.London, Chelsea will face competition from London rivals Tottenham Hotspur if they reignite their interest in Everton forward Anthony Gordon.
The 21-year-old was a subject of interest from the Blues during the summer transfer window when Thomas Tuchel was the manager of the team.
Everton wanted £60m for the youngster, but Chelsea were not prepared to go beyond £40m. Tottenham enquired about him earlier in the summer but were put off by the price tag.
It remains to be seen whether current Blues boss Graham Potter would be interested in the player who, after a decent start to the season, has struggled to make an impact in a relegation-fighting Everton team.
The former Preston North End player has three goals in 14 appearances, only one of which came in the last nine appearances. His overall form took a downturn in the weeks before the World Cup break.
Chelsea have issues in the forward line, with their wingers and centre-forwards not in great form nor able to work together in the final third.
Before the season break, the Blues scored two goals in the last five league games. That is well below the standards at the club. That was the key reason behind us being eighth in the league table, way off the pace of leaders Arsenal and fourth-placed Spurs.
Irrespective of what Chelsea need in the forward line, Gordon hasn’t done enough numbers-wise for the club to reignite their interest in him.
If Everton lowers the price tag, then the Blues to forge a deal. But, if the Toffees are adamant with their £60m valuation, then Potter and his team can look at better options in the upcoming transfer windows.
