Chelsea striker Armando Broja addresses his future after summer transfer rumours

Speaking in the press conference ahead of the next game against Dinamo Zagreb (h/t Football.London), Chelsea striker Armando Broja addressed his future at the club after rumours linked him with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The 21-year-old, who signed a new six-year deal in September, talked about not focusing too much on things happening outside of football and concentrated on getting ready for the season with the Blues.

In the last few weeks, the Albanian international has been linked with a move to AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, while West Ham United seemed a likely location for him in the summer.

Addressing his future and vowing to work hard at Chelsea, here’s Broja (h/t Football.London):

“There’s always talk from the media, you see it everywhere and every club. For me, I was just focusing on trying to be ready for the season, getting ready for pre-season and trying to show the manager what I can do for the club and trying to get into Chelsea.”

“I wasn’t too worried about what was going on outside of football, I was more focused on myself and being ready for the season and trying to get the best out of myself so I wasn’t sure what was going on outside.”

Broja has struggled for game time this season even when first-choice striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not starting every game. Manager Graham Potter has given him just one start and has gone with Kai Havertz as the number nine if Aubameyang is not starting.

The 21-year-old had a remarkable loan spell at Southampton last season, where he showed his quality and development by doing well in the big league.

He has all the attributes to do well in this Chelsea team. But, will the manager rely on him with more minutes so that he gets more chances to score goals? With what we have witnessed so far, it is doubtful.

So, Broja would be right to think about his future beyond here, especially at a club where he can be guaranteed regular minutes. With Milan and Atletico interested, it would not be a bad option for him to make a move outside of England and flourish.

We have already seen Chelsea academy products, who had great loan spells elsewhere but did not cut it at Stamford Bridge, doing well in the foreign leagues. Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori are the leading examples.
