Chelsea monitor Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot for a possible move

According to Calciomercato (h/t Football.London), Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Juventus and France midfielder Adrien Rabiot to make a possible move in the future.

Rabiot was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the summer, but the move did not materialise even after the agreement of a deal. The former Paris-Saint Germain star is in the French World Cup squad as they aim to defend their crown in Qatar.

The 27-year-old is an experienced player on both club and international level, having made over 100 appearances for both Juventus and PSG seperately and has 29 caps for France.

Chelsea earmark Juventus star Adrien Rabiot as a potential midfield solution.

The former Toulouse man is a central midfielder by trade who can operate as a defensive midfielder or in wide midfield positions. He is left-footed and prefers to stay on that side of the midfield more often than not.

Rabiot’s contract with Juventus expires at the end of this season (Transfermarkt). As reported in Manchester Evening News, he talked about being lucky to snub the United move and is in no hurry to start new contract negotiations with the Italian giants.

If nothing happens on an extension front, Chelsea would be right to put their foot and see if the player wants to come to Stamford Bridge.

With the future of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho not certain at the club due to their contracts next summer, the Blues are in need of additions in the central midfield department.

Moreover, the younger options Ruben Loftus-Cheek (26) and Conor Gallagher (22) haven’t really taken their chances this season by the scruff of the neck.

Having Rabiot, an experienced campaigner on the European stage could be a great addition to the squad. He adds passing, robust defending and a controlled presence to the midfield.

More Chelsea News:

It would be interesting to see how the Frenchman performs in the World Cup. His value and interest in the market may go up or down depending on what happens in Qatar. Chelsea could have an eye on his performances in the upcoming weeks.
