According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (h/t Football. London), Chelsea could offer Mason Mount to Juventus in exchange for winger Federico Chiesa. The Blues ‘like’ the Italian international.
Chiesa is believed to be valued at £87 million by the Old Lady. But they could be open to offloading the player on one condition- getting Mount in return. Mount is currently facing a very uncertain future at the Bridge.
The midfielder has entered the final 18 months of his contract but is yet to sign an extension. It is however expected that the Cobham graduate will sign a new deal, but the time frame is not known.
Graham Potter could do with a winger like Chiesa in his team. The Italian broke into the scene after his heroics led the Italians to win the Euro 2020. He has however missed most of this season due to injury.
But that does not mean he has lost his touch. The winger is expected to play a crucial role for the Old Lady in the second half of the season. With the futures of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic still uncertain, getting in a winger like the 25-year-old could help upgrade the team.
However, it will not be wise on the Blues’ part to offer Mount in exchange for the player. The England international looks to be finding his form this season, and his importance on the pitch for the Blues is well known.
The England international has played in 21 games so far in all competitions, scoring two goals and assisting another six in the process. He is expected to play an important part for the Three Lions in this year’s World Cup.
It remains to be seen if the Blues do offer Mount in exchange for the player. Both the players are good in their positions and it would make sense to play them together rather than exchanging one for another.
