A View From The Bridge

Todd Boehly is in touch with English international’s father regarding a blockbuster transfer

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly contacts the father of Jude Bellingham to gain transfer advantage

According to multiple reports (h/t Metro), Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has made contact with the father and agent of Jude Bellingham to steal a march ahead of the potential transfer.

Bellingham has been linked with a host of clubs in Europe, including Premier League rivals Liverpool, Manchester City and European champions Real Madrid.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Borussia Dortmund will demand a fee of around €150m to let go of the Englishman. As per German outlet Bild (h/t Metro), the Blues are one of the four serious contenders along with the three mentioned above to sign him.

Bellingham has been one of the hot properties in Europe in the last 12 to 18 months. Since his move from Birmingham City to Dortmund in 2020, the 19-year-old has become one of the best young players in the world. He is already in conversation to be the best young midfielder in the world.

If we are to believe the fee that Dortmund could demand, it is a high range. However, if the clubs look at it that the player is just 19 and has the potential to be the best midfielder for the next eight to 10 years.

So, an investment now would even itself out when the player starts performing and helping the team to win trophies and finish higher in the table.

Chelsea could do with a midfield signing with a younger age profile without compromising on quality. The future of N’Golo Kante (31) and Jorginho (30) is uncertain as their contracts are up in June. The other two key central midfielders Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are 28 and 26 respectively.

More Chelsea News:

It is good to see Boehly doing his best to gain any sort of advantage in this transfer race. As much as matching the financial demands would be key, attracting the interests of the player and his family could do wonders. For that reason, maybe the Chelsea co-owner is going down the route of pitching his project and plans to the player’s father and agent.
