A View From The Bridge

“I loved every day at Chelsea”- Thomas Tuchel gives fresh verdict on premature Blues exit under new owners

Thomas Tuchel opens up on Chelsea exit and reveals surprise at sudden exit

Speaking to Sports Star as quoted by Football. London, former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel says that he was shocked by his sudden exit from Chelsea but reveals that it was not in his hands and that he would have loved staying at Stamford Bridge for longer.

Chelsea sacked Thomas Tuchel after a poor start to the season. The German tactician was unable to get the best out of his team and the Blues did not wait long to make the decision. Then-Brighton manager Graham Potter eventually replaced him.

Potter has had a rather decent start to life as a Chelsea manager. The Blues have won many more games under him and were unbeaten under the English manager until last night when the West London club suffered a shock defeat to Potter’s former club.

Despite what happened towards the end, Tuchel’s time at Chelsea can largely be regarded as a success. He led them to Champions League glory just a few months after becoming the Blues manager. It was an excellent campaign for the German tactician who managed to outsmart Pep Guardiola’s team in the final.

The second season for Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea which was his first full season did not really go according to plan. Injuries, off-field controversy and club changes meant that the German tactician was unable to motivate his team to back-to-back trophy-winning seasons.

Speaking about his time as the Blues manager and how it came to an end rather abruptly, Tuchel was rather practical about it.

“I loved every day at Chelsea. It came to an end too early for me, but it was out of my hands. This is also what you sign up for. It is now time for me to take a break. Some clubs have been calling my manager, but we agreed that he would not call me here for these past 18 days.”

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Thomas Tuchel. The German coach is too good a tactician to be unemployed for too long and there is no doubt a big club in Europe will approach Tuchel to be their manager in the near future.

Chelsea meanwhile can look back fondly at the first few months under Thomas Tuchel and try to move on with the future. Graham Potter now has a chance to stamp his legacy at Stamford Bridge and the English coach has definitely made a good start.
