“There might be”- Chelsea tipped to sign unhappy Manchester United star on loan in January

Transfer News: Kevin Campbell tips Chelsea to sign Cristiano Ronaldo on loan in January

Chelsea have been tipped to sign Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo on loan in January, by Kevin Campbell. The former Arsenal striker gave his opinion when speaking on talkSPORT (h/t Football. London).

“There might be a loan for Ronaldo! It’s not going to be Tottenham & it’s not going to be Liverpool…it’s Chelsea. The opportunity to get Ronaldo for 6 months, that might appeal to Potter.”

The United superstar wanted to leave his current side this summer. He was linked with several clubs throughout, with the Blues also being one of them.

But after months of speculations and rumours, no move could materialise for the 37-year-old. Now, former Gooner striker Campbell has given a very enticing tip that could happen.

American co-owner of the club, Todd Boehly was very much interested in signing the former Real Madrid man. It was believed that he wanted to make the Portuguese his marquee signing of the summer.

However, the then coach Thomas Tuchel opted against the idea and the west London club instead focused on different targets. Raheem Sterling was bought in as a forward option, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also signing on deadline day from Barcelona.

Now, the team has a new coach in Graham Potter and maybe he would not mind having the Portuguese in his team. While the idea is very much achievable, we believe the ultimate decision will again lie with the coach.

Ronaldo was not part of the squad that faced the Blues earlier in their 1-1 draw. He was axed from his side after the 37-year-old refused to come on during his side’s 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week and also walked out to the tunnel before the final whistle was blown.

More Chelsea News:

This could be a warning for Potter to see what could happen should he bring in the player on loan. While the lure of Champions League nights could be enough, the coach will have to decide whether the ego and headache the forward brings are worth it.
