Transfer News: Frank Leboeuf has urged Chelsea to spend £200 million and sign Kylian Mbappe and Declan Rice
Former Chelsea centre-back Frank Leboeuf has urged the Blues to splash a combined £200 million and sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.
Mbappe is believed to have grown frustrated at the Parisian club and the former Blues icon believes his former side can lure the 23-year-old to the west London club. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyand and Armando Broja are our current strikers,
While the former is in the last few years of his playing career, the latter is yet to get enough experience to lead our line week in, week out. Speaking on Fair Betting Sites (h/t Daily Star), the former centre-back had his say:
“When I heard Mbappe saying he doesn’t see his future at PSG I thought there’s nothing stopping Chelsea from going all out to try and bring him to Stamford Bridge. If he wants to leave PSG, [owner Todd] Boehly could slap £100m on the table and say ‘take it or leave it’ because nobody else realistically is going to buy him.”
The French international is without a doubt one of the best players in the world. Just 23, he is an attacking threat that can make any team better. Should the Blues be able to secure his signature, he would make our attacking line-up one of the best in the world.
Leboeuf also wants the Blues to sign England international Rice. A former Cobham graduate, the 23-year-old has established himself for both club and country in the past couple of seasons.
“Declan Rice is the one for me. It would be very, very interesting if Kante leaves. I would love to see them {put down £100m} and get Rice from West Ham. I get goosebumps thinking of Mason Mount and Declan Rice playing together at Chelsea because they are academy graduates and that’s what fans want to see.”
Rice was linked with a move to Chelsea this summer, although nothing materialised from such rumours. The 23-year-old is one of the best in the Premier League today and could be a possible replacement for N’Golo Kante, who sees his current contract expire next summer.
The duo of Mbappe and Rice playing together for Chelsea would likely give every Blue fan a goosebump. But realistically, this suggestion might be too good to come true. We believe the latter is a more realistic target than the former.

It remains to be seen if the Blues do make a move for either of the players in January or next summer. Mbappe has interest from Liverpool and Manchester City too and they could provide some tough competition. Fans will hope that their club can sign one-if not both, in the coming months.
