Transfer News: Chelsea send scouts to watch Olympique Lyon starlet Malo Gusto
According to 90min (h/t The Sun), Chelsea sent scouts to watch Olympique Lyon starlet Malo Gusto and write reports on the right-back during the early months of this season.
They are not alone, though with rivals Manchester United also sending their scouts for the same. The 19-year-old has been a regular for the French side since mid-way through last season.
His performances have earned interest from a host of clubs throughout Europe. The likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are all interested in the right-back.
Gusto worked his way up the Lyon academy and has now become a first-team player at such a young age. The right-back is also part of the French Under-21 national team.
A right-back who can also play as a centre-back whenever required, the 19-year-old has started nine league games out of a possible ten for Les Gones, recording one assist in the process.
The youngster sees his current contract expire in 2024, though the club are willing to offer a new deal to their impressive academy graduate.
Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are the players who play on the right side for the Blues. While James could be considered one of the best in his position, Azpilicueta is on the wrong side of his 30s. A young understudy would be the best choice to get in, and Gusto fits that bill perfectly.
