According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Express), Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot is still of interest to Chelsea. This is despite his failed move to Manchester United this summer.
The Red Devils had agreed to a deal for the 27-year-old, but negotiations collapsed after the financial demands of the midfielder exceed what United were willing to pay.
Now, the midfielder is still of interest to the Blues and they might make a move for him in January to replace Denis Zakaria, who was signed on a season-long deal by the west London club on deadline day this summer.
It is believed that Zakaria has failed to convince the club that he is a good fit for them and Chelsea might make a move to cut short his loan in January. The 25-year-old is yet to feature for the club this season in any competition.
Rabiot has been a regular for the Old Lady this season. He has featured in nine games for them in all competitions and has scored two goals in the process.
Graham Potter has good depth in the midfield department. Conor Gallagher and Mason Mount have been very good in the past few games, while Carney Chukwuemeka has also been impressive whenever he has played.
Should Chelsea go ahead and cut Zakaria’s loan spell, Rabiot would then make an ideal replacement. The 27-year-old Frenchman has huge experience under his belt and is a good threat while attacking with his height giving him a considerable advantage.
