Transfer News: Bayern Munich rule themselves out of Jude Bellingham race amid Chelsea interest
In what will come as good news to Chelsea fans, Bayern Munich have ruled themselves out of the Jude Bellingham race. The Blues are said to be interested in the midfielder.
Bellingham is one of the hottest prospects in Europe currently and is being chased by several top European clubs. Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City are among some of the top clubs interested in the 19-year-old.
However, Oliver Kahn, the director at Munich while speaking to Bild (h/t Birmingham Mail) has ruled his side out of the race for the England international.
“We are not thinking about it at all. Of course, Bellingham is an outstanding player. But we have (Joshua) Kimmich, (Leon) Goretzka, (Ryan) Gravenberch, and (Marcel) Sabitzer. I can say we’re well equipped in that position.”
The 19-year-old joined Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 for £25 million. Since then, the England international has gone and established himself for both club and country.
An excellent talent at such a young age, the midfielder has already made 101 appearances in all competitions for the Dortmund club, scoring 13 goals and assisting another 19 in the process.
Chelsea see the contracts of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho expire next summer. With Conor Gallagher and Carney Chukwuemeka the future of the Blues midfield, adding Bellingham to it would make it one of the best in the world for a long time.
But he will not come easy nor cheap. It is said that the German club value their prized midfielder at £130 million. With Bellingham more than likely to travel with England for the World Cup next month, that valuation could sky-rocket.
