Report: Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic will push for January exit
According to Spanish outlet Todo Mercado Web (h/t Football. London), Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic who finds himself out of favour at the West London club will push for an exit in January as he looks to move elsewhere and revive his faltering career.
Pulisic, one of the most talented young wingers going around, has not been given a fair chance to showcase what he is made of in a Chelsea shirt. Injuries have certainly not helped the cause with the American struggling to remain fit for a prolonged period of time.
The 24-year-old American who broke into the limelight with his performances for Borussia Dortmund has struggled to show the same kind of levels since his move to Chelsea in 2019. He was expected to be the replacement for Eden Hazard but it has not panned out that way.
Having fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel who almost never used the American towards the end of his time as the Blues coach, Pulisic has started getting more game time since Graham Potter took over but it is still not as much as a player of his calibre will expect.
Pulisic has played 12 times for the Blues across all competitions this season scoring one goal and providing one assist until now. He is yet to start a single game for Chelsea so far though and has been forced to play a role off the bench.
Pulisic has a contract with Chelsea until 2024 (transfermarkt). He is expected to push for a move away from the club in January and his performances in the World Cup could go a long way in securing the Blues winger a transfer to a different club.
Newcastle United were supposed to be very interested in signing the American winger according to popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano but they wanted him on loan with an option to buy which Chelsea refused to agree to.
It remains to be seen if the Magpies come back for the talented winger in January and if they are willing to pay what it takes to sign Pulisic. Regardless, there is no doubt that for a player of the American’s talent, there will definitely be clubs interested in him.

Pulisic at Chelsea has not really worked out so far and there does not seem to be much time to turn this situation around. Unless there is a drastic shift in fortunes, it is highly likely that Captain America leaves Stamford Bridge come the winter.
