Olivier Giroud compares himself to Chelsea star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has said that Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and he are completely different players. Speaking ahead of the clash between both sides tonight, the former Arsenal and Chelsea striker was asked about Aubameyang due to their Arsenal connection.
To which, as quoted in Football. London, the Milan striker said that was the only thing similar between them. He also said that both the players are completely different to each other.
“I only care that my team wins. He’s a very good striker, I know him very well. Of course we both played for Arsenal but that’s the only similarity between us, because we are completely different players.”
Both the strikers have played for the Gooners before moving on. During their respective time at the Emirates, Giroud scored 105 goals in 253 appearances in all competitions, while Aubameyang scored 92 in 163 appearances in all competitions.
While the Milan striker has more goals, the Blues ace isn’t too far behind. It will prove to be an interesting clash between two experienced yet effective strikers.
The Gabonese international got his first Chelsea goal last time against Crystal Palace helping his side win 2-1. While Giroud did not score in his last game, he has been in good form this season.
Both the strikers are likely to start the games for their teams. While Milan sits at the top of the group table, the Blues are at the bottom. A win is very necessary for Potter tonight or it could become a difficult task to secure qualification for the knockout stages.
