A View From The Bridge

“A Chelsea boy” – Chelsea star insists he is very happy amidst contract talks

Mason Mount insists he is very happy at Chelsea amidst contract talks

Speaking in an interview with Tatler Magazine as quoted by Football. London, Chelsea star Mason Mount has insisted that he is very happy at Stamford Bridge amidst talks over a new contract for the rising English star.

One of the most talented players to come out of the Cobham in recent years, Mount is arguably Chelsea’s most influential player and has been so for quite some time now. Mount dictates the tempo at which the Blues play a game and makes the difficult things look simple.

A regular fixture in the national team as well, under Gareth Southgate, Mount is set to have a starring role with the Three Lions come the World Cup in Qatar in less than a month’s time. The 23-year-old will be hoping to carry his club form into the showpiece event.

After a poor start to the season that was more down to the team, and not necessarily because of him, Mount has burst back into life under Graham Potter. A case could be made for the English starlet to have been the best Blues player under the English manager.

In 14 games for the Blues across all competitions this season, Mount has scored two goals and provided five assists. Most of these contributions have come in the last few games. It has come at the right time both for Chelsea and the national team.

Mount has a contract with the Blues until 2024 (transfermarkt). There is absolutely no doubt that Chelsea will want to tie down their prized asset to a new long-term deal and it remains to be seen if the two parties are able to reach an agreement on the same.

Mason Mount is eyeing the Chelsea captain armband in the future.

Speaking about his time, Mount insisted that he is a ‘Chelsea boy’ and that he was very happy to stay at Stamford Bridge.

“I’ve always obviously been a Chelsea boy. I’m very, very happy here. We’ve been winning some silverware, which is a big goal of mine, I always want to win things.”

The Blues will undoubtedly be working behind the scenes as they look to get Mount to extend and as things stand, it does look like the English midfielder will undoubtedly stay for a very long time at Chelsea. However, we must get this deal done as soon as possible.

More Chelsea News:

Right now, there is not much to worry about regarding Mount’s contract. However, we must not take any chances and focus on extending this deal. It will undoubtedly be an excellent decision for the Blues.
