Graham Potter outlines his faith in Chelsea star Mason Mount
According to Daily Mail, Chelsea boss Graham Potter has thrown his weight behind 23-year-old Chelsea star Mason Mount and is very excited about the kind of player the English midfielder can become.
The English manager has managed to get the best out of Mount in his first few matches in charge. The English playmaker is one of the most talented young players going around but his start to the current campaign was rather disappointing.
However, things seem to be looking a lot brighter for Mount under Potter. The Cobham academy graduate is looking like his old self, controlling the game from midfield and being at the heart of everything good that the Blues have been doing.
One of the most talented players coming out of the Chelsea academy in recent years, Mount has been destined for the very top in the English game. He is an unbelievably talented midfielder who on his day can be absolutely unplayable and change a game on its head.
Although he is yet to score this season, Mount has played 11 games for the club across all competitions providing three assists till now, including two in the last match against the Wolves. The 23-year-old’s game is more than just numbers though, with his influence far more all-rounded.
Speaking about the talented 23-year-old, Graham Potter has thrown his weight behind the player and praised him for his game.
“I really liked his performance (against Wolves). He made lots of runs in behind, sacrificed himself for the team, worked hard when we didn’t have the ball — a really good performance. I’ve no doubt about Mason Mount at all. He’s got that personality to continue to develop. He’s a delight to work with.”
There have been a few concerns about Mount’s long-term future with Chelsea though. The talented English midfield star has a contract with the Blues until 2024 (transfermarkt) and is yet to pen down a new deal with the club that will make him stay longer.
Although it is nothing alarming yet, Chelsea will not want to lose a player as prodigiously talented as Mount and will want to convince him to put pen to paper on a new contract soon. Mount can be the face of the West London club for many years to come.

Already a leader on the pitch, it will be no surprise if Mount goes on to captain Chelsea in the future. Right now, the only priority will be to extend his contract and the Blues will not regret that decision.
