A View From The Bridge

“We want to do more”- Fikayo Tomori warns Chelsea about what AC Milan will do differently in the reverse fixture

Fikayo Tomori warns Chelsea about a rejuvenated AC Milan in the reverse Champions League fixture

Speaking in an interview with Football Italia as quoted by Football. London, former Chelsea defensive starlet Fikayo Tomori has warned his former club that AC Milan will come out harder in the reverse fixture against the Blues later this week and will look to get a win against the Londoners.

Chelsea took on AC Milan at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League midweek and managed to thrash the Italian giants 3-0 in a game that they dominated from start to finish. Goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana and Reece James helped Potter’s side win the game.

One person for whom the game last week would have been extra special was Milan defender Tomori. The Englishman, who is a former Blues player did not really cover himself in glory on his return to the Bridge as he was at fault for the Aubameyang goal.

Tomori, who was a product of the famous Cobham academy was one of the most highly-rated players coming out of the academy. However, the 24-year-old was never really given a proper chance to establish himself as a defender at Stamford Bridge.

Since his move to Milan though, which was initially a loan deal which eventually turned into a permanent move, Tomori has been one of the best defenders in Serie A in recent years. The Englishman is now being lauded for his exploits and there are calls for him to be a starter for England at the World Cup.

Tomori will welcome his former club to Milan in a couple of days and he has warned them that the Rossoneri will be more determined to put in a solid performance this time around.

“Obviously, we have another game against Chelsea coming up, and we want to do more on the pitch, not just in terms of performance, but also aggression. We had a bit more determination today and will try to win on Tuesday.”

Tomori has had a good start to the season with the Italian club, having played 12 matches across all competitions and scoring one goal until now. He will want to continue his good form against his former employees and show them why they made a mistake in selling him.

Chelsea will look to put in another solid performance but it will be a far-from-easy job in a packed San Siro. The crowd will make sure they make the game as difficult as possible for the Blues and Graham Potter will have to inspire his team to focus on football.

The Blues have had a good start to life under Graham Potter. The Englishman will want to continue in a similar vein, and send a statement by beating Milan, yet again and let’s hope they do just that.
