Romano: Chelsea player with zero minutes this season to have his future ‘discussed soon’

Transfer News: Denis Zakaria to have his Chelsea future discussed very soon

As per a tweet from Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea midfielder Denis Zakaria will have discussions about his future at the club very soon after arriving from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

Zakaria was signed on a loan deal from Italian side Juventus with an option to buy. Former Blues manager Thomas Tuchel wanted him and the club got him on transfer deadline day.

But, Tuchel was sacked seven days after the deadline day, leaving the player in a difficult position. He is yet to play a single minute of football for Chelsea and was not even on the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

As much as Zakaria must be frustrated at his current situation, he has publicly stated that he is willing to be patient for his chance to showcase how good he can be.

The 25-year-old was a January signing for Juventus from German side Borussia Monchengladbach. He played 13 games for the Old Lady in the second half of last season, notching a goal and an assist.

Despite things not going his way so far this season, we should not forget that the Swiss international was one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe when he was playing for Monchengladbach.

He is still 25 though, so there is time to get things right. It seems as if Graham Potter won’t use him much in midfield given that the player is not even making the bench in some of the games.

Hence, a move back to Juventus in January could help the player. The Italian side are struggling in midfield. Zakaria could provide the solidity required to shore up that area.

More Chelsea News:

From Chelsea’s viewpoint, he was probably a player brought because a manager wanted him who is not in charge of the team anymore. So, the club should do the right thing and cut short his loan in the winter.
