“60 minutes was enough”- Graham Potter gives verdict on Armando Broja’s first Chelsea start

Club News: Graham Potter delivers his verdict on Armando Broja’s first Chelsea start

Graham Potter has described Armando Broja’s first Chelsea start as ‘okay’ and believed 60 minutes of action was more than enough for the Albanian striker.

Speaking after his side’s goalless draw against Brentford last night, the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager gave his verdict on the 21-year-old, as quoted in Metro.

“We saw two or three actions in the first half of what he’s about. Brentford press high and Armando… we thought we could use him. I thought he did okay for his first game. Because it was his first game we thought 60 minutes was enough.”

Broja has been at the west London club since 2009 and spent more than a decade in the club’s academy before breaking into the senior team in 2020.

He was sent out on loan to Vitesse and then the next season to Southampton. It was at the latter that the striker announced himself on to the scene.

The Albanian scored nine goals in 38 appearances for the Saints last season in all competitions. Broja has been impressive this too, making 10 appearances for the club from the bench, until last night.

Broja scored his first goal for the Blues during their 3-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, earlier this month. The 21-year-old seems to be improving every game and could provide tough competition to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the season progresses.

More Chelsea News:

While he is unlikely to start the game against Manchester United this Saturday, he will hope to come off the bench and get on the scoresheet. A young talent with huge potential, he could write himself in the history book of the club if he continues his improvement.
