AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has warned his former side Chelsea that he and his team-mates are feeling ‘angry’ ahead of their reverse fixture in the Champions League tonight.
The Cobham graduate had a humiliating return to west London last week when he saw his team get thrashed 3-0. The England international left the Blues last summer to move to Serie A.
But now, speaking ahead of the game (h/t Football. London), the 24-year-old sent out a warning to his former side and is confident of beating them at the Giuseppe Meazza.
“I was very angry after the game against Chelsea. We’re very angry, but I don’t want to think too much about that game. We have a second chance to win and show what we are. That was not Milan, that was not me, but we always have to learn from those experiences. And tomorrow, to our fans, we will show what we can do.”
Milan bounced back from their defeat at Stamford Bridge last Wednesday. The Rossoneri beat Juventus 2-0 at home last weekend, with Tomori scoring the first goal for his side.
Graham Potter’s side were also victorious last weekend. The Blues beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 at home courtesy of goals from Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja.
Fans will hope for another victory tonight. The west London club remain undefeated in all competitions since Potter took charge of the club in September, having won three and drawn one in the process.
Tomori would be eager to set things straight as the first fixture between the two teams this season was perhaps what he wasn’t envisioning. Players always have a point to prove when they play against their former teams, after all.
It remains to be seen what team the former Brighton & Hove Albion manager chooses to start against the Italian champions. A win today would boost the Blue’s chances of making it out of the group stage in this year’s competition.
