A View From The Bridge

Broja and Gallagher start: Confirmed Chelsea XI to face Brentford

Armando Broja starts in a surprising move by Potter as Chelsea starting XI to face Brentford is released

Chelsea face Brentford tonight in a London derby of high importance at the Gtech Community Stadium. Both teams are coming into this game on the back of convincing victories over the weekend.

The Blues are on a run of four consecutive league wins, three of them coming under new boss Graham Potter. They have kept a clean sheet in the last four games in all competitions.

Keeping that in mind, Kepa Arrizabalaga keeps his place in goal after another fabulous display over the weekend against Aston Villa. The Spaniard is doing everything right to keep the number one spot in his hands. Armando Broja starts up front with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang getting a rest. Thiago Silva also gets a rest. Conor Gallagher partners Jorginho in midfield.

In well-known news, N’Golo Kante and Reece James are out due to long-term injuries. They would not only miss the games before the World Cup but the whole of the tournament in Qatar as well. Wesley Fofana is still out. The complete lineup can be seen in the tweet embedded below.

Both games against Brentford were tough last season. In the corresponding fixture, we had to rely on the brilliance of Edouard Mendy to make several fantastic saves and help the team win the match 1-0. Ben Chilwell scored the winner.

In the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, the Bees beat us 4-1 with goals from Vitaly Janelt, Christian Eriksen and Yoane Wissa.

Despite a good run in the league which has taken them to the fourth spot in the table, the competition is tight as well for that fourth spot. Although it is early in the season, a win before that huge clash against Manchester United on Saturday would be great for continued momentum.

More Chelsea News:

Brentford have also released their lineup, which can be seen on their official account. Their top-scorer Ivan Toney starts and Janelt, who scored a brace in our last meeting, also starts.
