Ben Jacobs claims Chelsea will look to sign Harry Kane from Spurs
Speaking on The Football Terrace YouTube channel as quoted by Football.London, CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Todd Boehly and Chelsea will look to pull off a ‘marquee signing’ for sure with Tottenham superstar Harry Kane very much on the radar of the Blues. He said:
“Chelsea are the more likely threat coming from the Premier League at the moment. They will look at Harry Kane for sure. Todd Boehly is very keen on showing Chelsea can bring in proven Premier League players, particularly attack-minded players. They want a marquee name from within the Premier League.”
Jacobs says Boehly will try to emulate the Gabriel Jesus swoop that Arsenal made in the summer by signing the Brazilian from Manchester City and similarly try and lure English superstar striker Kane to the Bridge as he is a proven Premier League player.
The Blues are trying to negotiate some departures ahead of next season. Hakim Ziyech is one player they are willing to ship out for the right offer with Football.London claiming that AC Milan made an offer of €25million part-payment which Chelsea rejected.
Another player who could be closer to the exit door is American star Christian Pulisic. The Blues are trying to negotiate a player-plus-cash deal for AC Milan star Rafael Leao with Pulisic mentioned as the player who would be a part of this negotiation, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Football. London).
There is no doubt that after all these departures, the Blues will want to bring in a statement signing which would be that of a star attacker. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not expected to last long at the top, despite his exploits in recent months and Chelsea will need a striker.
It’s here that all the stars seem to be aligning for a Harry Kane move. If Spurs fail to win a trophy this season as well, there is a chance that the superstar striker would have had enough and will want to move elsewhere in search of silverware.
Chelsea are a club that consistently competes for trophies and with them needing a striker, Harry Kane would fit the bill perfectly. Kane will have to make the switch from North London to West London and this does not seem like a ridiculous move after all.
Jacobs is very sure that Todd Boehly will make a move for the Spurs striker. The North London club though could play hardball, just like they did last summer when Manchester City tried to sign the forward. One good thing for the Blues is that the striker doesn’t have much left on his contract in terms of years.

With 192 goals in his Premier League career, he is the third leading scorer in the history of the competition. You can’t get more ‘proven’ than that. Hopefully, for us, he doesn’t renew his deal that expires in 2024, which would perhaps be our best chance of getting him from a fierce rival like Spurs.
