Opponent Watch: AC Milan receive Theo Hernandez boost but will be without 8 players for Chelsea clash

AC Milan get Theo Hernandez boost but will be without 8 players for Chelsea clash

AC Milan have received an injury boost with Theo Hernandez back in their squad ahead of the Chelsea clash later tonight. But, the Rossoneri will be without 8 senior players for the game, as per Football.London.

Hernandez played the full 90 minutes in their last game. The Serie A champions won 2-0 against Juventus and the left-back is more than likely to feature against the Blues, having missed the previous game against them.

First-choice goalkeeper Mike Maignan will not be available for selection, while other senior players in Charles De Ketelaere, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Simon Kjaer, Alexis Saelemaekers, Davide Calabria, Junior Messias and Alessandro Florenzi are all set to be absent for the game.

36-year-old Ciprian Tatarusanu will be the obvious like-for-like replacement for Maignan. Sergino Dest could be playing down the right-hand side for Milan, while in attack, Divock Origi and Oliver Giroud’s presence could be important for Stefano Pioli.

Graham Potter too will see a few of his players miss the game. Wesley Fofana will not be travelling after picking up a knee injury in the previous fixture against them at home.

N’Golo Kante and Hakim Ziyech will also not be available for selection, while Edouard Mendy has returned to the matchday squad. It remains to be seen if Potter gives him a chance or sticks with Kepa Arrizabalaga in between the sticks for his side.

Trevoh Chalobah, who replaced Fofana last time out and also featured in his side’s 3-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers last Saturday, is likely to start with Kalidou Koulibaly at the back. Reece James, Mason Mount and Conor Gallagher could all start with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang likely to lead the line.

More Chelsea News:

Fans will hope for a similar 3-0 win as the last time at Stamford Bridge. Both clubs have 4 points on the table, with the west London club edging their rivals on goal difference. A win at the Giuseppe Meazza for the Blues could put them in a strong position for qualification to the next round.
