Transfer News: Chelsea sent scouts to watch Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby

According to 90min (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Chelsea sent scouts to watch Bayer Leverkusen winger Moussa Diaby against Atletico Madrid last Wednesday.

The winger is said to be the subject of ‘heavy interest’ from England. It is true as the Blues were not the only ones to send scouts with rivals Newcastle United, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur all sending their representatives.

Diaby did not disappoint as he was the star of the show against Atletico in the Champions League. The 23-year-old scored his side’s second goal in the 87th minute to seal all three points for the visitors. Having such a player in our roster will certainly add more bite to our offensive abilities.

The Blues bought in Raheem Sterling this summer and the England international has been our best player so far. Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic have been very disappointing this season and the club could do with a young and energetic winger.

Diaby would make an ideal choice. Just 23, the France international has a long career ahead of him and the Blues could be the best place to showcase his talent.

He was on fire last season in the Bundesliga, with the Frenchman scoring 13 goals and assisting another 12 in 32 league games to help his side finish third on the table.

Moussa Diaby is a top player in the Bundesliga.

But it will not be easy for the Blues to land him. A host of other rivals are interested in the winger and his performance last time out will surely have upped their interest in him. Chelsea will have to play their cards right if they want Diaby to play for them.

More Chelsea News:

It remains to be seen if the west London club make any move for the winger. If the 23-year-old can deliver similar numbers as last season again, we could potentially see clubs go head-to-head for his signature next summer.
