Transfer News: Real Madrid confident in signing Chelsea target Jude Bellingham next summer
According to a tweet from Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, European champions Real Madrid are confident in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder and Chelsea target Jude Bellingham next summer.
The England international, who is one of the best midfielders in the world, has been linked with a host of top clubs, including the Blues, their rivals Liverpool, Manchester clubs and the current best team in Europe.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl is keen on offering a new contract to the 19-year-old after the World Cup. His current deal with the German side lasts until the summer of 2025. The club had reportedly set an asking price of £131m for him a few days ago.
Bellingham is such a hot property around Europe that signing him would take a lot of background work. It seems as if Liverpool and Real Madrid have done their homework, which leaves the likes of Chelsea and Manchester clubs behind. Although, Erling Haaland has already told the midfielder to join City.
The 19-year-old has not decided on his destination yet, with the attraction of Champions League football being one of his leading agendas.
It is understandable that Dortmund want to keep hold of such top-class talent. However, it looks increasingly unlikely that he would stay there beyond next summer at the maximum.
Though Chelsea’s name has not really popped up when talking about Bellingham’s next destination, they are prepared to offer a structured deal that can appease the demands of the German club and the player.
Bellingham is just 19 and the world already seems to be at his feet. He has what it takes to be the next big thing in English and even world football – perhaps our very own Frank Lampard. But for that, we have to be quick and decisive with our interest as there are other parties at the table.

Bellingham is a rare talent. His performance against Germany on Tuesday showed that he can do it on the international stage against the very best. He has to start in the World Cup unless Gareth Southgate is deluded. There won’t be any surprises when his price tag takes up another few pounds after the tournament.
