Report: Graham Potter plans one-on-one meetings to understand Chelsea players better

Graham Potter to hold one-on-one meetings with Chelsea players

According to Evening Standard, the new Chelsea manager has informed his squad that he will hold one-on-one meetings with the players before the international break to help them understand better.

This basically sounds like a good idea where the manager is trying to learn various aspects of each player, know their ambitions and drives and also allow them to have their say with the boss.

It is revealed that a few of the players have already had a meeting with Potter. He likes his players to take responsibility on and off the pitch while treating him as an equal figure, not some authoritarian.

Potter wants to create a healthy, respectful, yet open relationship with the players

Potter was appointed as the new Chelsea boss last Thursday, a day after Thomas Tuchel was sacked following the team’s defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on the opening night of the Champions League.

With the Liverpool game postponed this weekend, it would be an ideal opportunity for the Englishman to spend the free weekend with the players before they go on to represent their countries during the international break.

There have also been updates from the training ground that laughter and relaxed minds have returned, with players enjoying the sessions under the new manager.

It remains to be seen how long these good moods last though, as the current football business and mood of people around is mostly driven by results produced on the pitch.

It is good to know that Potter is trying to instil openness between him and the players. It can help in creating a relaxed atmosphere around the training ground and the manager’s office.

More Chelsea News:

The Englishman has a good reputation for man management along with his great tactical skills. However, the variety of characters and egos in the Chelsea dressing room will certainly test the former of his traits. If he passes that, this could be an era worth celebrating for the fans.
