Ex-Chelsea star Mitchy Batshuayi on verge of sealing highly controversial £50k-a-week transfer

Transfer News: Fenerbahce confirm signing Chelsea star Michy Batshuayi

According to the official Fenerbahce Tweet, the Turkish side have confirmed that they reached an agreement to sign out-of-favour Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, subject to passing all the health checks upon arrival at the club’s facilities.

Now, as per a report in Football.London, it is believed that the Belgian international has made a permanent move to Turkey this time, having spent a year there on loan last season, playing for Besiktas.

During the transfer deadline day, it was widely expected that the 28-year-old would move to Nottingham Forest, but that move fell through at the last minute despite a medical being booked.

Batshuayi has never been able to make a permanent place for himself in the Chelsea team, irrespective of which manager is in charge. He was at Stamford Bridge for six years, making a total of just 48 league appearances, most of it coming from the bench.

With the World Cup in Qatar around the corner, the understanding is that the striker is looking for more game time, which he could get in abundance at Fenerbahce.

All in all, this move suits all parties. Chelsea were never getting him enough game time for him to be considered to be selected for international tournaments. The player is at an age now where it is now or never for him with regards to playing games rather than warming the bench.

Michy Batshuayi has failed to establish himself at Chelsea

The Blues have signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raheem Sterling to bolster their forward line during the concluded summer transfer window. After having made quite an underwhelming start to the season, the onus is on manager Thomas Tuchel to get the best out of his players and revive their campaign sooner rather than later.

Up next for them is a home game against West Ham United, followed by the first Champions League game away to Dinamo Zagreb.
