According to Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Football.London), Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic would gladly accept a move to Serie A champions AC Milan in the January transfer window.
The Blues are in the race to lure Milan forward Rafael Leao to Stamford Bridge. Pulisic, on the other hand, would be happy to accept if this move becomes a player-swap deal between the two clubs rather than just him going to Milan.
The USA international has been on the fringes of things at Chelsea. He was a squad rotation player under former manager Thomas Tuchel and did not start the only game of new manager Graham Potter in charge.
During the international break, the 24-year-old did give an encouraging interview showcasing his desire to prove his worth under the new boss and is excited about a new start.
The former Borussia Dortmund player arrived in West London in 2019 and has not been able to cement his place in the team despite spluttering of good moments. Injuries haven’t helped him as well.
Chelsea are in a position where there are places up for grabs in the forward line. Hakim Ziyech is on the fringes, while Kai Havertz has made a slow start to the season. Raheem Sterling was used as a left wing-back in Potter’s first and only game in charge so far against RB Salzburg.
If Pulisic trains well and catches the eye of the manager, he could get some game time from now till the start of the World Cup. The 24-year-old now needs to make sure he grabs that opportunity with both hands and never lets it go.
Regarding the move to Milan, it would be a profitable one for the club if there is player-swap involved. Otherwise, the USA international is a talented player who needs to stay at Chelsea throughout this season. Potter can get the best out of him.
