Wilfried Zaha is keen on making a shock move to Chelsea this summer
According to a report in Talksport (h/t Football.London), Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is keen on a shock late move to Chelsea during this summer transfer window. The Blues should be encouraged to make a move for Palace’s talisman given their need for attacking reinforcements.
It is further revealed in the report that despite the club’s interest in players of other positions, owner Boehly is interested in adding one more forward to the squad this summer. It is fair to say that it could prove pivotal in the long run.
Zaha has been linked with moves to big Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, in the past. But the 29-year-old has stayed put every time. With him nearing 30, the Ivory Coast international does not have very long to make a move to a club bigger than Palace (with all due respect) and play in the Champions League.
The Blues have been linked with Cristiano Ronaldo and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in the past few weeks, but none of those moves have materialised thus far. Both of them are in their thirties and if anything will offer us little more than a quick fix.
With the current players in the squad, it won’t make a lot of sense to add another winger. Chelsea currently do not have a first-choice striker in their squad. Armando Broja is there as an option, but he would need to do a lot to gain Tuchel’s trust. Romelu Lukaku is out on loan while Timo Werner is all set to join RB Leipzig.

Hence, rather than spending money on Zaha, the Blues should focus on getting one of the strikers across the door before deadline day.
