Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Trevoh Chalobah. Italian sides AS Roma and Inter Milan are also said to be interested in the 23-year-old.
Chalobah has concerns about his game time should the Blues be able to sign Wesley Fofana this summer. Thomas Tuchel is interested in the Leicester City centre-back, and the two clubs have been in talks for the same.
The 23-year-old fears that his pathway to cementing a place in the senior team could be blocked by the potential arrival of Fofana. He could now seek either a loan or a permanent move to continue his development.
Now he has attracted interest from different clubs, including Tottenham. Chalobah played 30 times in all competitions last season, scoring four goals in the process. He also started in both the domestic cup finals and the UEFA Super Cup.
It will be wise on Tuchel’s part to keep the 23-year-old in the team. The former England Under-21 has proved himself to be a very good back-up whenever required. He may be young but he has got some good experience under his belt. Considering the defensive scarcity the club has, he could prove to be pivotal this season for us.
Also, it will not be sensible nor wise to strengthen a direct rival like Tottenham. They are not our domestic rivals but also European ones. If the player wishes to leave for game-time, it will be wise to send him out on loan to either of the two clubs mentioned above.
Chalobah’s decision to move could also impact Ethan Ampadu this season. Ampadu has offers from teams in Europe’s top five leagues. Should Chalobah leave, the Blues could force Amapdu to stay back as they do not want to be left short at the back.

It remains to be seen what decision is made regarding the future of Chalobah. Just 23, he could still have a very bright future at Stamford Bridge. Fans, however, would not be very likely to welcome a move to north London for the centre-back.
