Transfer News: Nottingham Forest are interested in Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri
According to Evening Standard (h/t Nottingham Post), Nottingham Forest have enquired about the availability of Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea. The Reds are said to be searching for a left-back as coach Steve Cooper continues his rebuild.
Forest were closing on a deal for Real Betis left-back Alex Moreno but the player has no intention of leaving Spain. This has led Cooper to look elsewhere, leading his search to Stamford Bridge.
Emerson joined the Blues in 2018 from the Italian side AS Roma. The Brazilian has never really got going at Chelsea, with the 28-year-old mostly playing second fiddle during his time at Stamford Bridge.
The Italian international spent the last season on loan at Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon. There he made a total of 35 appearances in all competitions scoring one goal and assisting two others.
He travelled with the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States. While Thomas Tuchel gave him some minutes, he could not impress. This led to him being dropped from the match-day squad against Everton in our Premier League opener last Saturday.
This could be a hint that he is not in the plans of Tuchel for this new season. Ben Chilwell has returned from his injury coupled with the arrival of Marc Cucurella has pushed Emerson further down the pecking order. It will be wise for the player to seek to ply his trade elsewhere.
Forest are an exciting team and have returned to the top flight after a long absence. Emerson has more chances of getting desired game-time at the City Ground than at Stamford Bridge. But they are not the only party interested. Juventus are also interested in the 28-year-old, seeing him as a potential replacement for Alex Sandro.

Emerson has interest from multiple parties and that should come as good news to him. It is clear he is surplus to requirements at Chelsea and it will be wise for him to leave. His departure will also help the club reduce their wage bill and recoup a decent transfer fee.
