Boost for Chelsea as Serie A side willing to listen to £12m offer for youngster

Transfer News: Inter Milan could accept £12 million bid for Cesare Casadei from Chelsea

According to Evening Standard (h/t The Sun), Chelsea could have a £12 million bid for Cesare Casadei accepted by Inter Milan. The player is yet to play for the senior team but has interest from Chelsea.

Chelsea have seen two bids under £10 million turned down by the Italian outlet. But now the Blues are close to landing their target. His potential arrival would add him to the pool of young players that the Blues have already bought this summer.

Tuchel and co have been spending heavily to add new recruits to their youth academy. This comes after the club’s Under-21 side narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League 2 last season.

A box-to-box midfielder, Casadei was in fine form last season for the Inter Milan Under-19 side. The 19-year-old scored 14 times for the Milan side in 32 appearances for them in all competitions. This led to him being crowned the young player of the year at Inter.

Thomas Tuchel has been interested in him for some time now. The Blues have added players to their academy to make the transition in midfield easier. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho are not getting any younger and see their contracts expire next year.

Conor Gallagher who impressed on loan last season has been included in the squad for this season. He even made an appearance during Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Everton last Saturday. The player impressed in his brief performance and could have a career-defining season this campaign.

Should Casadei arrive, he could join Carney Chukwuemeka in the academy. A fine player, Casadei would make a fine signing for the Blues. A rare talent like him is rarely available in the market and Tuchel and co will be wise to get him to Cobham.

If he impresses in the academy, it won’t be long before Tuchel calls him up to the senior squad. The fans will be happy that their club is not only thinking of the present but also of the future. It won’t be surprising if Casadei becomes a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge in years to come.

But for that, Chelsea must keep their calm and see the deal through to the finish line. He may not have any senior experience with I Nerazzurri, but he has what it takes to make it big in the future.
