Transfer News: Hakim Ziyech might join Ajax following Antony departure
Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech could be set to leave the club and join Ajax as a replacement following Antony’s rumoured move to Manchester United this summer, according to the United Stand.
Hakim Ziyech has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge throughout this summer but a move for the Moroccan superstar hasn’t really materialised. It has emerged in recent weeks that a move back to his old club might be on the cards.
It emerged today that Manchester United have reached an agreement with Ajax for the transfer of Brazilian star Antony. The player has been pretty vocal about his desire to leave Amsterdam and it looks like he is finally going to get his wish.
Ziyech’s time at the Blues has been far from ideal. He has not been able to establish himself as a key player in the team due to the presence of other superstars. Injuries have also not helped his cause with the Moroccan struggling to get a consistent run.
Although he did have his moments in a Blues shirt, they have been few and far. Most of the time, he has been used as a rotational option by Thomas Tuchel and doesn’t get much game time to impress on a consistent basis. It is not good for a player of the Moroccan’s ability.
In 44 games for the club last season, Ziyech scored eight goals and provided six assists across all competitions. These numbers are not bad but anyone who has seen the Moroccan play at Ajax knows that he is capable of much more and can be a much better player.
Ziyech has a contract with the Blues until 2025, and it remains to be seen what kind of a move Chelsea negotiate with Ajax to send the player back to Amsterdam. It is unlikely to be a big money deal but the Blues will know that Ajax have the Antony money.

Ziyech’s career at Chelsea could have been much better than it has been until now. He still has had good moments in a Blues shirt, like the wonder goal against Spurs last season. Unfortunately, it has been a poor stint overall.
