According to Sky Sport Austria reporter Marko Stankovic (h/t Metro), RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko has decided his future amidst interest from Chelsea.
Sesko has interest from Chelsea and Manchester United for a transfer this summer. The player’s representatives have met with the clubs and now the player has decided to stay at Salzburg this season.
The player is said to have reached such a decision as he wishes to make a leap like Erling Haaland. He wishes to stay this summer at his current club and then maybe move to a bigger club next year.
“Benjamin Sesko wants to stay in Salzburg for another year so that he can make the leap like Erling Haaland. That’s Sesko’s plan. Next year we will talk about a really good transfer.”
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been focused on the defence this summer. He has bought in Kalidou Koulibaly and Marc Cucurella. Talks with Leicester City for Wesley Fofana are also going on. But the attack could also do with some reinforcements.
Romelu Lukaku has been shipped back to Inter Milan on loan while Timo Werner’s future remains uncertain. Raheem Sterling was bought this summer, but he may not be enough. A clinical number nine is required and Sesko could have been that man.
But now the player has made his decision. Tuchel could consider giving Armando Broja a chance. The 20-year-old impressed last season on loan at Southampton. A tall and clinical player, he could become the perfect target man in the box.
Sesko’s decision also givesTuchel and co a chance to assess their current players. If Tuchel is not satisfied with their performances, he could make a move for the striker. Salzburg are said to be demanding more than £50 million for the player. If the 19-year-old displays fine form this season, Chelsea could plan to make a move.
The Blues perfectly began their new season after winning 1-0 at Goodison Park. Tuchel will hope that his team’s performance improves and he does not regret not getting in a number nine during this transfer window.
