A View From The Bridge

Chelsea ‘may’ use two players to sign exciting attacker playing on Merseyside

Transfer News: Chelsea could use Armando Broja and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a swap deal for Anthony Gordon

Chelsea could use Armando Broja and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a potential swap deal for Everton forward Anthony Gordon. This is according to the Daily Mirror (h/t Express).

Thomas Tuchel is keen to add another attacker to his squad and has identified Gordon as one. The Blues have had a £50 million plus £5million in add-ons offer for the 21-year-old rejected by the Toffees. But they are ready to improve their proposal.

The Blues are willing to spend as much as £60 million for the attacker. But they could now add two players to help sweeten the deal with Everton. Gordon is said to be open to moving to Stamford Bridge as he is keen to play Champions League football.

Broja spent the last season on loan at Southampton and impressed there. West Ham United had tried to sign the centre-forward, but failed in their pursuit. Everton are said to be interested in a loan move for the 20-year-old and such a move might be agreeable to Chelsea.

Frank Lampard is said to be a big fan of the Albanian striker and he could help him replace Richarlison. Loftus-Cheek is another player who could be offered. The 26-year-old midfielder is capable of playing anywhere in the midfield as well as in wing-back position.

The 26-year-old has started the last two games for the Blues as a right wing-back, with Reece James playing as a centre-back. But Tuchel is pursuing Wesley Fofana and should he arrive, James would replace Loftus-Cheek as the right wing-back.

Everton want to take Armando Broja on loan.

Both the players being offered are decent players in their respective positions. The Toffees are yet to win a game this season. They could do with the two players being offered as they would want to avoid the repeat of last season. Everton came really close to being relegated, but somehow managed to survive the drop.

It remains to be seen if the two clubs can come to any agreement for the sale of the player. It will wise for Tuchel to offer only one player, as he will need the depth for the long season ahead. Fans will hope that whatever deal is stuck, their team comes out more profitable.

More Chelsea News:

Broja can be used as a striker as he is perhaps our only out-and-out centre-forward. If he plans to use Gordon as a false nine, we already have several players for that role. Loftus-Cheek, however, is a player our team perhaps don’t need that much given Tuchel’s trust (or the lack of it) in him since arriving.
