Report: Chelsea consider late move for PL rival forward

Transfer News: Chelsea consider late move for Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha

According to Miguel Delaney on Twitter, Chelsea are considering a late move for talented Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha with Premier League rivals Arsenal also said to be considering a move for the former Manchester United man.

Zaha has been at Crystal Palace for a very long time now. The Ivory Coast man joined the Eagles from Manchester United in 2014 and has since then gone on to become one of the most important players at Selhurst Park for so many years.

The 29-year-old former English international has had a sensational start to the current campaign, scoring three goals in as many games for Patrice Viera’s side. He could be set to leave the club though, at the fag end of the transfer window with a move to Chelsea or Arsenal being touted.

Once rated very highly when he was breaking through, Zaha joined a big club like Manchester United at a very young age and struggled to adapt. However, he has since gone on to become a very solid player in the Premier League and has had a very decent career.

At 29, now is the time for Zaha to jump ship and join a top club. He could be an option for both the Blues and the Gunners and either move will suit the Crystal Palace man. He will get good game time and has the chance to play for one of the elite teams.

Predominantly a right-winger, Zaha can play anywhere across the front line though. If he does come to Chelsea, there is a chance that we could see him play through the middle, a position where we don’t have the best of options as things stand.

Wilfried Zaha linked with a shock move to Chelsea this summer.

Zaha has played 433 times for the Eagles over his career scoring 86 goals and setting up a further 73 across all competitions. His game is much more than scoring or assisting though and the 29-year-old is a truly solid player to have.

It remains to be seen if Crystal Palace are willing to sell their talisman so close to the transfer window coming to an end and if Chelsea actually pursue a deal for the player. Regardless, this is an interesting story to keep a look out for.
