A View From The Bridge

Chelsea block talented 23-year-old defender’s summer exit

Transfer News: Chelsea block Trevoh Chalobah from moving to Inter Milan

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have blocked the exit of talented defender Trevoh Chalobah to Inter Milan this summer with the English youngster set to remain at Stamford Bridge.

Trevoh Chalobah had a very good season with the Blues last summer. He broke through into the first team last season and had a very impressive showing. Thomas Tuchel seemed to trust the talented youngster a lot and he got a lot of game time last season.

A product of Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy, Chalobah has been with the Blues ever since 2015. He has spent a number of seasons out on loan at different clubs getting regular game time and developing his game to be a first-team player for the Blues.

It is clear that Chelsea trust Trevoh Chalobah. He was given a long-term contract until 2026 in November last year. (transfermarkt). Thomas Tuchel has tended to use the talented Englishman in a variety of positions including midfield and defence.

The 23-year-old played 31 times for the Blues last season scoring four goals and providing two assists across all competitions. He was a part of a formidable backline along with Thiago Silva, Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Cesar Azpilicueta.

This season, Chalobah finds himself in a much different company. Christensen and Rudiger have left the club and there have been new arrivals in the form of Kalidou Koulibaly and possibly, Wesley Fofana. Chalobah started last night’s game against Leicester City and played the whole ninety minutes in the heart of the defence alongside Thiago Silva. He has a pretty impressive outing and showed a lot of promise

Italian giants Inter Milan are very interested in signing the Cobham graduate but it seems like they will not get their man. Romano claims AC Milan and RB Leipzig also wanted the talented defender on a loan deal but a move did not materialise.

Chalobah looks set to stay at Chelsea. If he can have a season like the one he had last season, the Blues will have a solid player on their hands.
