Transfer News: Chelsea are interested in Villarreal prodigy Yeremy Pino
According to The Express, Chelsea are planning to move for Villarreal winger Yeremy Pino this summer. The 19-year-old is attracting attention from our arch-rivals Arsenal.
The Gooners are interested in bringing the teenage sensation to the Emirates this summer, but Chelsea could derail such plans. The Blues are tracking Pino and could make a move for him before the window closes.
Pino was very impressive last season. The Spanish international made 40 appearances for Unai Emery’s side in all competitions, scoring seven goals and assisting another four. He also played a crucial part as the La Liga side reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.
His impressive displays have earned the interest of top Premier League clubs, and now two rivals could potentially go head-to-head for his signature. But it may not be easy or cheap as the 19-year-old’s current contract expires in 2027.
There is a claim that Pino has a £67 million release clause, but it is believed that a bid between £34 million to £42 million would be enough to secure the signature of the Spaniard. Chelsea are also interested in Everton wide man Anthony Gordon.
With the future of Hakim Ziyech still uncertain, a move for Pino would make sense. A young winger with so much potential, he would only get better with every season. However, playing time could be a hindrance to his development.
The teenager is likely to get more and desired playing time at Villarreal than at Chelsea. He could be loaned out to further aid in his development, but the chances of experiencing regular football in the Premier League is far from a given. It remains to be seen what and if any deal can be agreed between the club and player.
