Speaking in an interview to @owynnpa as quoted by popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that Chelsea target Wesley Fofana is not for sale this summer.
Chelsea are interested in the talented centre-back this summer and want to bring him to Stamford Bridge to reinforce their defence. The 21-year-old French defender is one of the most exciting centre-back prospects in the league and has impressed with the Foxes.
Fofana joined Leicester from Saint Etienne in 2020 and has since then gone on to impress during his time at the King Power stadium. A fast centre-back who is very good defensively and on the ball, the French starlet will suit a Thomas Tuchel system.
Last season, Fofana played just 12 times for the Foxes scoring one goal across all competitions. A fibula fracture that he suffered kept him out of the picture until April and hence, he managed to get very little game time under his belt for the Foxes.
Despite the long-term injury, Fofana made a really good return from it and it already seems like the issue is behind him. He played well for the Foxes towards the latter part of the last campaign and could be set for his big move this summer.
It is no secret that Chelsea are on the hunt for new centre-backs. Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger leaving the Blues on free transfers has left us extremely understaffed in the backline despite the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli.
The Senegalese man, as good as he is, is 31 years old and signing a young, talented centre-back to partner him could just be the perfect solution long-term for Chelsea. Wesley Fofana perfectly fits the bill and could learn a lot playing alongside Koulibaly and Thiago Silva.
Despite it being claimed that Brendan Rodgers has made it clear that the talented Frenchman is not for sale, Romano claims that the Blues have absolutely no intention of giving up and will continue pursuing Wesley Fofana this summer as their new signing.
Wesley Fofana at Stamford Bridge will be a truly exceptional signing. It remains to be seen if we convince the Foxes to sell him though, this summer.
