Thomas Tuchel Net Worth and Salary

Thomas Tuchel has a net worth of approximately $20million as of 2022. His earnings are almost entirely down to his salary and fees he receives as a football manager. Tuchel has managed some of the biggest clubs in world football.

And hence, his considerably hefty net worth doesn’t come as a surprise. The German manager signed an extension with Chelsea in the summer of 2021 after winning the UEFA Champions League, which saw him get an increase on the £7million-a-year he earned at Stamford Bridge before that.

Thomas Tuchel Playing Career

Thomas Tuchel, like most managers, was a player during his early career in football. The German played for TSV Krumbach as a kid – a club coached by his father. He then moved to Augsburg’s youth set-up before making the step-up to senior football in 1992.

Tuchel played for Stuttgarter Kickers for a brief while, making just 8 appearances for them in 2 years. He then made the move to SSV Ulm and played 69 games as a centre-back for them. Tragedy struck in 1999 when the then 26-year-old Tuchel was forced to retire from playing football due to a knee cartilage injury.

Thomas Tuchel Management Career

It is quite evident that Tuchel has made his mark in the footballing world as a manager rather than a footballer. His big break in management came under Ralf Rangnick in 2000 when he was hired as a youth coach at VfB Stuttgart. Tuchel then became a manager for Augsburg II in 2007 and made a big impression during that time.

After offers from various top clubs, the German manager then took the first of two steps as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at a club. Tuchel became FSV Mainz 05’s senior team manager in 2009 following Klopp’s departure to Borussia Dortmund.

He then took over Klopp’s job once again when the latter took a break from management in 2015. Klopp had resuscitated Dortmund on the European stage and Tuchel was trusted to carry forward that project- which he did to good effect.

A move to PSG came in 2018, where his side won the Ligue 1 title in both the full seasons he was in charge at the club. He led the club to their first-ever UEFA Champions League final in 2020, eventually losing to Bayern Munich. However, he fell out with club director Leonardo at Parc des Princes.

That resulted in him taking over Frank Lampard’s job at Chelsea in January 2021. He implemented his trusted 3-4-2-1 formation at Stamford Bridge and within weeks, he turned around Chelsea’s fortunes and guided them to the UEFA Champions League as well as FA Cup finals- winning the former against Manchester City by a 1-0 scoreline.

Tuchel’s second season at the bridge started off on a positive note but Chelsea were marred by controversy which affected the football on the pitch. The ownership saga meant the Blues did not have a great season and Tuchel will be hoping to turn it around.

Thomas Tuchel Wife, Family, and Personal Life

Tuchel was born in August 1973 in West Germany. His father, Rodolfe, was a footballing coach and Tuchel was into the sport from an early age. He was a supporter of Borussia Monchengladbach as a kid.

The former PSG boss married his wife, Sissi, in 2009 and the couple have two kids together. The couple part ways earlier this year though and have filed for divorce. He describes himself as an ‘imperfect vegetarian’ and is also an avid reader of crime novels. Tuchel also speaks four languages- English, French, German, and Italian.

Thomas Tuchel Endorsements and Social Media

While Tuchel is a wanted man in the footballing world as a manager, there is next to nothing available on his sponsorship deals and endorsements.

The German is also not the most active on social media platforms, as most managers aren’t, but does have an official Twitter account with a modest following of 266.k.
