Thomas Tuchel has given his verdict on Chelsea transfer window
Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel has stated that he is “super happy” with the business the club has done so far in this summer transfer window. Speaking to Soccer AM (h/t football.london), the German expressed his happiness.
The Blues have made five first-team signings this season and many more for the academy. It looked like they were not only building a team for the present, but also for the future.
“No, I’m not happy, I’m super happy,” he told Soccer AM ahead of Everton. “These two guys [Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly] are fantastic guys and fantastic football players and are exactly what we need.”
Marc Cucurella became the latest talent to join the west London outfit after he completed his move from Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday. Apart from this, Chelsea are also linked with a move for Wesley Fofana and Frenkie de Jong.
It looked like a task for Chelsea going into the new transfer window this year. Their previous owner had to sell the clubs and this was the new owners’ first transfer window. One can say that they have done a fantastic job with Tuchel himself praising the owners, especially Todd Boehly.
Raheem Sterling was the club’s first signing this summer and was followed by Kalidou Koulibaly. Two exceptional good players in their respective departments will likely start games for the Blues this new season. Gabriel Slonina, Carney Chukwuemeka and Marc Cucurella then followed suit
There have been departures too. Romelu Lukaku has left the club on loan for Inter Milan, while Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen joined Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively for free this summer. Levi Colwill, the youth centre-back has joined Brighton on a season-long loan.
It has been an exciting transfer window both for Tuchel and the fans. A few more arrivals are expected and the team looks good ahead of the new season. The coach, players and especially the fans will have high hopes going into the new season.
