Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s broken jaw during home robbery could complicate Chelsea transfer
Barcelona striker and Chelsea transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suffered a broken jaw as he tried to protect himself and his family during a home robbery recently, according to David Ornstein of the Athletic (Subscription Required).
The 33-year-old striker is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks due to that injury, and it is a new factor for the Blues to consider as they continue talks over signing the former Arsenal star. If he does move to west London, he could miss a few games in September as a result of it.
Aubameyang left the Gunners this January and joined Barca in what seemed like a good move for his career at that point. However, just a few months into his time there, he has dropped down the pecking order due to Robert Lewandowski’s arrival.
Now, he could be headed to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window deadline tomorrow. However, there is no agreement reached between Chelsea and Barcelona as of now.
Chelsea must sign Aubameyang
Personal terms have also not been agreed upon yet. However, the clubs will continue their talks today over reaching a potential agreement over Auba’s potential move to Chelsea.
The Gabon international could be the man we need to lead our line, at least for this season. Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan on a loan deal and the club can take a call on the Belgian’s long-term future once he returns to Stamford Bridge.
However, we need someone to be our centre-forward during that time. Kai Havertz and the in-form Raheem Sterling can play in that role, but having an experienced, out-and-out number nine like Aubameyang wouldn’t hurt.

Timo Werner also returned to RB Leipzig and that has clearly left us short of options up front. Armanda Broja can fill that gap but questions about whether he can be a prolific striker at Chelsea so early in his career would be asked.
