Manchester United want Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic on a loan deal
According to the Athletic (Subscription Required), Manchester United want to sign Chelsea winger and United States Football team captain Christian Pulisic on a loan deal during this transfer window.
The 23-year-old has been a frustrated figure at Stamford Bridge with lack of game time under Thomas Tuchel, and would want more minutes under his belt before the World Cup taking place this winter in Qatar. It is also claimed that he is open to making a move to Old Trafford before the deadline day of this window.
Fellow Premier League club Newcastle United have also made an approach to sign Pulisic, who has also been a subject of interest from Italian giants Juventus and Spanish club Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old couldn’t get a place in the Chelsea team from the start in either of their Premier League games. He came off the bench on both occasions, not getting enough time to make a considerable impact.
Chelsea paid £58m to sign Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019. He has been with the London-based club for three years, failing to make his place a fixed starter in the team.
The American international has made 117 appearances in all competitions for the Blues in three seasons and a bit, playing just over 7,000 minutes of football (7,038 to be exact). That in turn means he is averaging around 2,300 minutes of football per season, which can be considered less than the expected count for a player who was bought for the big bucks three years ago.
Positionally, Pulisic is a versatile player who can play across the front line or as a number 10. He has played as a wing-back for Chelsea as well.
If this move does indeed happen, the Blues are not expected to miss him, at least not until there is fatigue and/or injuries. He was left out of the starting XI against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month.

Apart from some games where he has looked like a world-beater, he hasn’t really been the most consistent player in the world during his time in west London. The question now is whether Tuchel wants the player back next season after the loan ends, or does he want him sold permanently.
