According to Metro, super agent Jorge Mendes has offered Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to Chelsea yet again, after the Blues rejected the opportunity to sign the Manchester United striker earlier this summer.
Ronaldo has been linked with a move away from Chelsea throughout this summer but a move hasn’t really materialised for the talented forward. This has meant that he has stayed on at Old Trafford throughout this summer, even though he doesn’t want to.
Cristiano Ronaldo needs no introduction. He is arguably one of the best players in the world but the last few months haven’t really been kind to the Man United legend. His return to Old Trafford hasn’t really gone as expected and he has been on the receiving end of criticism.
Chelsea are in the hunt for a striker this summer. Both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner have left the club and the only natural striker in the squad right now. This has meant that Thomas Tuchel has been forced to play other options as a number nine this season.
This is where the Manchester United man comes into the picture. Ronaldo is looking for a new club to play Champions League football. He can get regular game time at Chelsea and the club will benefit from having a clinical presence in front of the goal.
In the four matches in the Premier League until now, Ronaldo is yet to score or assist a single goal. He looks like a man who doesn’t want to belong in the Red Devils team and it could be in our best interests to cut him loose.
If Chelsea signs Ronaldo, he will be a short-term fix at best. He cannot be expected to carry the Blues team but he will give Tuchel the clinical edge his side desperately lack considering the sheer number of chances that Tuchel’s team create in front of goal.
It remains to be seen if the Blues change their mind this time around. Ronaldo is an interesting option but not the most convincing one.
