Journo: Merseysiders plot late loan move for Chelsea forward

Transfer News: Everton plotting late loan move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja

According to a tweet from Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports, Everton and their manager Frank Lampard are plotting a late loan move to sign young Chelsea striker Armando Broja before the end of this summer transfer window.

The Toffees are looking at other options as well, such as Che Adams of Southampton, but Broja’s name is also in the mix. Chelsea are reluctant to let go of the Albanian international on a permanent deal, so a loan move would be the maximum Everton can get at the moment, if they go through with this interest.

Broja spent the last season on loan at Southampton and did his reputation no harm with consistently good performances. Six goals and one assist in 32 league appearances don’t do justice to how good he was, playing predominantly in a two-man strike force for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s team.

Everton, on the other hand, have let go of their main man up front in Richarlison. They are yet to replace him in addition to the fact the other option (Dominic Calvert-Lewin) they have for the number nine position is injured.

So, as of now, the Toffees only have the 32-year-old Salomon Rondon as their solitary fit option for the centre-forward position. Thus, it makes sense why Lampard and the Merseyside club are scampering around to find a solution for this problem before the window is shut.

From Chelsea’s viewpoint, this move can make sense to an extent. Broja wasn’t used from the start in either of the first two league games and missed the Leeds United trip with a minor injury. Moreover, the club is looking to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to fill their own void for a centre-forward.

Armando Broja could do with another loan move for experience sake.

So, letting go of their young starlet on a loan move to a big yet struggling Premier League club will do no harm to them and also the player. It is more or less clear that Broja would get more minutes at Everton this season than Chelsea.

More Chelsea News:

That is clear right now because of the teams Tuchel has put in the three league games this month. Broja, in total, has just 16 minutes of PL action during the current campaign.
