Chelsea women’s star Millie Bright signs a new contract
It has been an amazing year for Chelsea defender Millie Bright, who has signed a new three-year deal with the club making her the longest-serving player in the team.
This comes after she made the entire nation proud and as vice-captain of the team, brought the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 back home. Bright was integral to England’s run to the final and helped the team keep four clean sheets out of six games, conceding just twice over the entire tournament.
Despite all the hype surrounding the England men’s team, it is the women’s side that eventually did the nation proud. Bright was a key part of that glory and returned to Stamford Bridge a national hero.
Bright is regarded as an experienced player both at club and country level having made 58 international appearances to date. It is a deal which makes sense for all parties involved and it seems that the parties involved are pretty ecstatic about it.
Speaking to the club’s website, Bright opened up on why she signed the new deal. She has built up a solid rapport with the Blues faithful and this association appears set to continue. She has won several tropies in Blue and remains keen to add to that tally.
“Chelsea, the fans, the club, the people. Thank you for all your support so far. You’re my home and I can’t wait to continue fighting for more trophies. Cheers to the future!”
General Manager of the team Paul Green expressed satisfaction with the defender penning a new deal and acknowledged her importance to the team. Given the legacy the English international has built in the game, it comes as no surprise that the Blues are keen to extend their association.
‘Millie remains our longest-serving player and her time with us has been key to our success. The way that she leads on and off the pitch is second to none and we are proud of how far she has come and all her achievements, including her most recent win at the Euro’s which was a very proud moment for the club.’
