Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel pushing to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
According to a Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Daily Star), Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is putting pressure on owner Todd Boehly to sign Barcelona and former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang before the summer transfer window shuts.
Tuchel is looking to strengthen his forward line following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. He wants Boehly to make a good offer to Barcelona to sign Aubameyang before deadline day.
The 33-year-old former Gabon international signed for the Spanish giants back in January itself from Arsenal. He scored an impressive 11 goals from 17 La Liga appearances in the latter half of the 2021/22 season.
Despite those good returns, it is believed that the Catalan club is looking to offload him after the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha. This could work out in our favour.
For Chelsea, having already lost two options to lead the line, the onus is on the recruitment team to fill that gap sooner rather than later. Armando Broja is an alternative option, but he is young and the lack of depth beneath him is worrying.
The Blues did begin their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win over Everton, where Raheem Sterling played as a false nine. In that game itself, it was clear that they would need a focal point in attack to score loads of goals and be a threat for opposition defences.
If they sign Aubamayeng, they will get a striker who has proven qualities in the Premier League, when he was at Arsenal. 68 goals and 16 assists in 128 league appearances for the Gunners is more than good going for someone who didn’t always play through the middle.

As much as this move would be great for Chelsea, it would be another opportunity for the 33-year-old to show his worth at the top level. Having worked together at Dortmund, it remains to be seen if Aubameyang and Tuchel will reunite at Stamford Bridge.
