Tuchel hits back at Man United legend for his comments on Chelsea owner

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has hit back at Gary Neville for his comments on Todd Boehly

Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel launched a strong rebuttal against pundit Gary Neville for his comments on the Blues co-owner Todd Boehly. Neville had called Boehly ‘panicky’ and claimed ‘it looks like he wants to play Football Manager.’

When asked about this, Tuchel in a press conference (h/t Daily Mail), Tuchel had nothing but compliments for his bosses. He said that they were hard-working and he has great respect for Boehly. He went on to add that they have done a fantastic job so far.

“Panicking? No, I would describe it as super hard working and learning while on the job. The transfer market is one of the toughest things you can do when you come from the outside but I have nothing but compliments and the biggest respect for Todd.”

Tuchel’s comment came after Neville criticised the Blues’ business in the transfer market so far. Boehly has taken the additional responsibility of interim sporting director at the club, apart from being its co-owner.

Thomas Tuchel has praised the owners for the job they have done so far.

Chelsea’s previous owner, Roman Abramovich had to sell the club in the wake of his country’s invasion of Ukraine earlier this year. After much uncertainty Todd Boehly led a consortium with Clearlake Capital and purchased the club, saving it from possibly going into administration.

This is Boehly’s first summer transfer market and he has no doubt done a fantastic job so far. The club has bought in players like Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Marc Cucurella and Carney Chukwuemeka. After losing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Tuchel has done his best to mitigate the losses.

The club has also extended the contract of Cesar Azpilicueta and many other players are also likely to be offered new contracts. We were criticised after missing out on Raphinha and Jules Kounde, but proper replacements have been bought in.

Everyone has the right to an opinion and as a pundit, it is Neville’s job to comment on football activities. But such childish comments are uninvited. One could guess that he is not happy with his former club Manchester United’s business and is targeting Chelsea because of that.

The bosses have invested in the club and are looking to invest more. The best reply that can be given to Neville is if the Blues finish another season above his former club. As for Tuchel and co, they prepare themselves for the start of what could be another exciting season.
